Radiohead's back catalog became available for sale via Apple's iTunes Music Store this morning (June 3) in DRM-free files, removing the band from the ever-dwindling list of major holdouts from the digital download service.

The band previously had a handful of songs on iTunes that were included on various soundtracks or compilations, and earlier this year, Radiohead's new album, "In Rainbows," was made available there.

But only today have the band's first six studio albums, and a brand new "Best Of" release, gone live. Radiohead had been holding out because of its desire for fans to buy the albums in complete form, rather than as individual tracks.

Technically, iTunes always had the option of selling Radiohead's back catalog, but only as full albums. Apple has to date refused to conduct album-only sales.

Radiohead's decision to change its digital sales policy looks to have been a smart one from a financial standpoint. "In Rainbows" has sold 106,000 of its 526,000 U.S. copies digitally, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Individual tracks from the album have sold 178,000 copies.

Last September, U.K. retailer 7digital scored a coup when it added Radiohead album downloads to its service, but not individual tracks. The Beatles, Garth Brooks and AC/DC are now the last superstar acts without a presence on iTunes.

Mallu Magalhães, 15, traça os novos rumos da música.

O nome da vez, no cenário independente brasileiro, é o de Mallu Magalhães. Com apenas 15 anos de idade, a jovem cantora compõe canções folk (ou rock acústico para alguns) em inglês.

Mallu diz que começou a tocar aos 11 anos, mais ou menos na mesma época em que estreou na poesia e na escola de inglês. “É mais sonoro”, diz. “Sempre tive vergonha de compor em português. Às vezes você quer contar coisas que são para ficar mais obscuras.”

Além de tocar guitarra e violão, Mallu diz que ama desenho, pintura e fotografia. Daqui a alguns anos, pretende fazer faculdade de design gráfico

Mallu Magalhães, 15, the new directions of Brazilian music.

The name of the time in the Independent Brazilian scenario is Mallu Magelhães. With only 15 years old, the young singer composed folk songs.

Mallu says she began playing with 11 years old, more or less the same season in which debuted in poetry and English school. "It is sounder," she says. "I have always been ashamed to compose in Portuguese. Sometimes you want to tell or counting things that are to become more obscure”.

In addition to playing guitar and violin, Mallu says she loves drawing, painting and photography. In a few years, she wants to make college of Design.

Mallu already has some concerts scheduled in Brazil:

Hoje eu acordei com a música Heart of Glass na cabeça.

Heart of Glass, do Blondie, foi a música que levou a banda ao topo das paradas norte-americanas. O clipe foi gravado em 1979 no lendário Studio 54.

MIRANDA!

Conheci esta banda argentina através do canal Sony, quem assiste deve lembrar do clipe da música Perfecta com aquelas "beterrabas" estranhas que nasciam em árvores. Apesar do clipe "tosco" a música é bem bacana.

Miranda! es una banda de electro pop de Argentina, formada a mediados del año 2001. Al tiempo que empezaban a hacerse sentir en el escenario y crecía su número de oyentes daban reportajes donde se los tildaba de promesa del nuevo sonido en el pop argentino. El nombre Miranda! es un homenaje al actor argentino Osvaldo Miranda de 90 años, protagonista de decenas de películas como Los muchachos de antes no usaban gomina de 1937.

Rufus Wainwright está em turnê pelo Brasil. Ontem a apresentação foi no Via Funchal, em São Paulo. O show era de Rufus Wainwright e o público sabia disso. Por isso ninguém cantava junto, e quem ousasse ganhava olhares de reprovação dos que estavam ao redor, as manifestações de euforia eram discretas e as palmas foram rápidas para não atrapalhar o espetáculo. Não se ouvia barulho sequer nas pausas das músicas: o público estava atento e hipnotizado.

Eu não sabia que ele não gosta que o público cante junto, mas parece ser bom isso. Ninguém merece fãs histéricas(os) gritando. Afinal, todos pagaram para ver o Rufus o lenhador.

Belo Horizonte e Brasília são as próximas cidades a receberem o cantor.
